Josh Goldman/CNETIf you're having trouble tracking down an Xbox Series X console, those problems could last until at least mid-2021, Microsoft has told The New York Times. The Xbox Series X supply constraints could remain in place until June, Mike Spencer, Microsoft head of investor relations, told the publication last week.
Microsoft is "working tirelessly with our manufacturing and retail partners to replenish Xbox hardware as quickly as possible," a Microsoft spokesperson told CNET in an emailed statement.

"We continue to see overwhelming global demand from our fans for the next generation of Xbox," the spokesperson said. "In some instances, more consoles will become available on a weekly basis depending on the retailer and market."

Sony's new PlayStation 5 is also in short supply and high demand.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, gaming sales have continually spiked as more people are staying home. Earlier Monday, Nintendo announced its Switch console has now hit almost 80 million units sold since 2017, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling 31 million copies in 2020.
