Following capturing a pair of Horizon League outdoor team championships a weekend ago, the Youngstown State track and field program has added a trio of last chance qualifier meets to this week's slate as a last attempt to post big marks before the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (East Region Preliminary Round) in Jacksonville, Florida, May 26-29.
Day one of the PAC Last Chance meet will commence with the javelin competition beginning at 2 p.m. at Robert E. Thron Field on the campus of Grove City College. Day two of the meet will take place at Westminster College where, for the Penguins, the high jump and long jump competitions will take place at 3 p.m.
The one-day Hillsdale "Last Chance" Classic will begin with the throws competition, slated to get started at 12 p.m. with the women's shot put event where Sammy Dyson will represent the Penguins as the sole entry in the event. The men's competition is to follow. The meet will take place at the Ken Herrick Outdoor Track in Hillsdale, Michigan.
The Toledo Rocket Invitational, for YSU, will get underway at 9 a.m. with the javelin throw competition. On the track, CJ Schumacher and Mikel Lagaras will kick-off running events for the Penguins in the men's 1500m at 2:20 p.m. The meet will take place at the UT Outdoor Track & Field Facility in Toledo, Ohio.
