Krause is the talk of Twitter after 'The Last Dance' debut - NBCSports.com

The debut of ESPN's "The Last Dance" didn't disappoint.

From bubbling tensions between general manager Jerry Krause and all three of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson, to the inside story of Pippen's upbringing, to passing glimpses behind the curtain of the mythos of Jordan, Episodes 1 and 2 undoubtedly leave us with the feeling of wanting more.

That will come soon. But for now, Jason Goff, K.C. Johnson and Kendall Gill and David Watson are here to breakdown what we've seen so far, and all that has already made this documentary so special.

Pippen was at the heart of the docu-series' debut. From Johnson:

"I thought he (Pippen) was the emotional epicenter of Episode 2. I mean, that stuff about his family is no joke and, to me, it does inform why he chose the long-term security and signed that deal that Jerry Reinsdorf advised him not to sign because he said it would make him underpaid by the end of it, and he was very very underpaid by the end of it.

"I think the fact that his greatness is gonna be on display as much as it will be over these 10 episodes is a good thing because obviously he's a hall of fame player and rightfully so."

Conversely, if there was a villain painted, it was Krause.

"A story like this has a narrative arc, and I don't think anybody's gonna be surprised to hear that he's kind of painted as the villain in these first two episodes," Johnson said. "I do think ultimately you'll see some credit for a lot of his moves. He inherited Michael Jordan, there's no getting around that. He put the frame around the Mona Lisa twice, he built two separate teams to win six championships and two separate three-peats with really only two constants — one of which he inherited in Michael Jordan and one of which he shrewdly acquired in Scottie Pippen.

"The level of animosity that is gonna be displayed throughout this is I think gonna be very eye-opening for some people."

Gill chimed in with the perspective of someone who played against those Bulls.

"When I was playing against these guys, I knew there was some controversy, but when I heard Scottie demanded a trade, I thought he was just doing that because he wanted to get the contract," Gill said. "The disdain in Scottie's body language. You gotta get me out of here, I do not care. It wasn't about the contract at that point. It was about I do not like you."

The majesty of Jordan and omnipresence of Jackson stood out, as well. Tune into the latest Bulls Talk Podcast for more:
