Raleigh, N.C. — Reopen NC's third protest will begin at 11 a.m. in downtown Raleigh on Tuesday. Only a few hours later, state lawmakers will meet to discuss North Carolina's next steps.
Last week's protest drew hundreds of protesters and counter protesters to the streets. Many carried signs and waved American flags while they walked, while masked healthcare workers and other people in favor of keeping restrictions in place stood and sat on the sidelines. A group of nurses counter protested the group by simply standing in silence while ReopenNC marched by them.
On Monday WRAL learned that Reopen NC co-founder Audrey Whitlock missed the group's first two rallies after she tested positive for COVID-19. Another leader said Whitlock found out she was ill three weeks ago.
Whitlock will not be at Tuesday's protest, sources tell WRAL.
