Player(s) to Watch
Oliver Bjorkstrand, Elvis Merzlikins
Honestly, the player that I love watching most these days is Oliver Bjorkstrand. He’s the one who makes me feel like there’s something fun I can still expect from an ultimately un-fun game, so I always keep my eyes on him. Even if he can’t always turn the game around, he always tries to keep it interesting.
The other one to watch is Elvis Merzlikins - he played an excellent game against the Red Wings on Tuesday night, shutting them out in regulation and overtime and winning in a shootout. With Joonas Korpisalo out for the remainder of the season, it’s Elvis’s time to shine.

This doesn’t really have to do with tonight’s game, but there’s this news, accompanied by one of the most hilarious attempts at Photoshop I’ve seen in awhile:

John Tortorella said Patrik Laine and Oliver Bjorkstrand missed practice today because they are nicked up. Not sure if they will be able to play tomorrow in Carolina. #CBJ

Carolina is having a beautiful, amazing season - must be nice! Around the same time the Jackets were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs last week, the Hurricanes clinched their playoff spot as the first-place team in the division. Here’s this fun stat:
