Prior to tip, many wondered if they would embrace or perhaps even give a simple fist bump, but it wasn't to be as the pair stayed away from each other in the first meeting since their altercation last week.
The incident, in which James received and one-game suspension and Stewart received two games, set the internet alight, with many expecting fireworks from tonight's matchup.
While the interaction between the two was subdued, the home crowd at STAPLES Center were quick to make their feelings known, loudly booing Stewart during player introductions and on an early trip to the free-throw line.
In a somewhat anti-climactic event, the pair would match up on occasion during the first half, but there were no signs of any incident brewing, much to the disappointment of the crowd, who would again boo Stewart when he passed the ball away from an individual battle with LeBron.
In the second half, James drained a corner triple right in Stewart's face.
Aside from the intrigue around James and Stewart, the game is a must win for the Lakers, who still find themselves below .500 with a 10-11 record entering the contest.
