Happy 4th of July Husky fans. Last weekend the Huskies hosted an impressive list of officials visitors on campus (below is a list of the visitors on campus):
4 star tight end Ryan Otton from Tumwater HS, WA
4 star cornerback Benjamin Morrison from Brophy Prep HS, AZ
4 star linebacker Tevarau Tafiti from Punahou HS, HI
4 star defensive lineman Ben Roberts from East HS, UT. Roberts committed to UW on Sunday night after returning home from his visit.
4 star running back Emeka Megwa from Timber Creek HS, TX. Megwa committed to the Huskies on Thursday.
3 star linebacker Lance Hotlzclaw from Desert Ridge HS, AZ
3 star quarterback Jackson Stratton from La Jolla HS, CA. Stratton has been committed to the Huskies for over a month.
So far the Huskies have reaped pretty good rewards by already landing Megwa and Roberts and beating out some of their chief rivals for both including Oregon, and USC (along with several other major national powers). By all accounts every visitor had an awesome visit and it sounds like the Huskies could get commitments from almost every visitor, eventually. The next players I would expect might pop and commit to UW are Tafiti and Morrison (both have been leaning to the Huskies since they’ve visited and I would expect both to commit in the next couple of weeks). The Huskies are also pushing to land Holtzclaw and Otton and both should make their decisions in the next month or so. All in all the Huskies will be very happy if they land every visitor to their commitment list. The next weekend the Huskies might be able to host visitors is the last weekend in July. As of yet the Huskies haven’t scheduled any visitors but it’s possible they may decide to get some visitors on campus as soon they can and try and wrap up their class as early as possible.
The other bit of news I wanted to discuss is that 5 star defensive lineman JT Tuimoloau from Eastside Catholic HS, WA is set to commit today at 1pm. By all indications it sounds like Tuimoloau is going to choose Ohio State (which he has been leaning to for a long time). The Huskies did everything they could to land Tuimoloau, but it looks like they couldn’t beat out defensive line coach Larry Johnson and the Buckeyes in the end (assuming he does choose the Buckeyes). Going forward the Huskies will need to continue to win on the field and show recruits that they can develop them for the NFL (the Buckeyes have had more success sending defensive lineman into the NFL).
That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
