The Indiana area received a lot of snowfall this winter compared to last year.
The weather station at the Pennsylvania American Water Company’s Two Lick Filter Plant reported on Friday that 40.7 inches of snow fell through the winter season. That was nearly double than the 2019-2020 winter season, when 23.6 inches of snow was reported during that time. Those stats check out with Accuweather. It reported 44.1 inches of snow going back to last October.
Accuweather meteorologist Matt Benz said that this year’s snowfall was actually more on par with what we normally get than last year, and explained why we didn’t get as much snow last year compared to this year.
As for next year, there’s no word yet on how the 2021-2022 winter will go. Benz said that a lot of moving parts still have to be calculated, including how the hurricane season goes and if we are expecting a El Nino or La Nina weather pattern.
