When is the last time Bills went to a Super Bowl? History of Buffalo's big game appearances - Sporting News

tampilansberita.blogspot.com

Bills fans probably don't need a reminder of Buffalo's last trip to the Super Bowl, and even if they do, they might regret asking for said reminder.

It's been nearly three decades since the Bills last played in the NFL's final game of the season. The early 1990s were full of Buffalo appearances in the Super Bowl. One problem: The Bills never won it, losing in four consecutive years, and they haven't been back since.

That's it. Buffalo never made it to the Super Bowl before 1991, and the Bills haven't made it back since 1994. The 2020 NFL season, which featured a 13-3 regular season for the Bills, presents maybe the best chance since '94 for Buffalo to circle the wagons en route to Super Bowl 55 in Tampa, Florida.

Here's a look back at the Bills' Super Bowl history — if you don't like re-living misery, maybe turn back here.

Bills Super Bowl history

When is the last time the Bills went to a Super Bowl?

The last time the Bills played in the Super Bowl was 1994. It was the last in a string of four consecutive trips to the Super Bowl that began in 1991 (following the 1990 regular season). As is relatively famous at this point, Buffalo lost all four of those trips to the Super Bowl, the only four times they've played in the big game.

How many Super Bowls have the Bills won?

The Bills have never won the Super Bowl. Their only four appearances came between 1991-94, and they lost all four of those games.

Buffalo did claim two championships in the AFL prior to that league's merger with the NFL. Behind quarterback Jack Kemp, the Bills won AFL titles in 1964 and 1965.

What's the most Super Bowl appearances without a win?

The most a team has ever appeared in the Super Bowl without winning it is four times. The Bills are one of two teams to have done so, losing Super Bowls 25, 26, 27 and 28.

The Minnesota Vikings are the other franchise to make it to four Super Bowls and never win. They only spaced out their losses a little better, making it to the Super Bowl and losing in 1970, 1974, 1975 and 1977.

What's the most consecutive appearances in a Super Bowl?

The Bills hold the record for most consecutive appearances in a Super Bowl, making it to every edition of the game from the 1991 playoffs through the 1994 playoffs. Buffalo lost all four of those games. No team has won even three Super Bowls in a row, with seven franchises having claimed back-to-back titles (and the Steelers doing that twice).
