"Many parts of our country vote by mail," McConnell said in Radcliff, Kentucky. "Oregon, Washington, and Colorado voted by mail for years... Many states, because of the coronavirus, like ours, are gonna have more people voting by mail than in the past and I don't think the American people need to worry about the election. It's gonna occur on time, safely and credibly."
McConnell added that "some additional assistance" for elections is "probably appropriate."
On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives Democrats unveiled legislation that would require same-day processing for mail-in ballots and give the cash-strapped Postal Service a $25 billion infusion while erasing changes pursued by the agency's new leader, an ally of President Donald Trump.

MITCH MCCONNELL: The election is going to be fine. Many parts of our country vote by mail. Oregon, Washington, and Colorado voted by mail for years. There's nothing we can do or should do at the federal government to dictate the states how they vote. And so I think some additional assistance for our elections is probably appropriate, but many states have not spent the money we sent them already for elections.
So again, it's a question of priorities, what comes first? And we're going to have a credible election that's going to occur on November the 3rd, and many states, because of the coronavirus, like ours, are going to have more people voting by mail than in the past. And I don't think the American people need to worry about the election. It's going to occur on time, safely and credibly.
