Five people were wounded in a shooting on the city's west side on Saturday night, and gunfire erupted at two east side locations early Sunday morning.

Rochester police responded to a location near 501 Thurston Road around 11:45 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Officers found evidence indicating multiple shots had been fired, including an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.

While police were investigating, 4 gunshot victims arrived at Strong Memorial hospital, and another victim arrived at Highland Hospital. All had been transported in private vehicles and suffered what police called "non-life-threatening" injuries.

According to RPD Captain Brian Marone, the victims were:

  • A male 22-year-old city resident
  • A male 23-year-old city resident
  • A male 22-year-old city resident
  • A male 30-year-old non-city resident
  • A female 32-year-old city resident

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

Two other shooting incidents occurred in the city a short time later, and police did not say whether any of these violent events were related.

A short time later, police say, at least one gunshot was fired on Clifford Avenue around 1:55 a.m. No one was injured and nothing was struck.

Police said there is no one in custody and the investigation of both early morning shooting incidents is ongoing.
