The 140th St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic will take place this year on Aug. 1, with some changes to ensure local, state and CDC guidelines on gathering amidst the coronavirus are followed.
The Picnic Committee has planned for the event to have fewer booths, reduced hours, masks for volunteers and people dedicated to sanitizing.
The picnic will still offer slow cooked mutton and pork for purchase by the pound and speeches from political leaders and legislators. The barbecue will be available throughout the day on picnic grounds but the speeches will be moved from the traditional pavilion to inside the Fancy Farm Elementary School gymnasium. Only those with a ticket will be allowed to enter and hear the speeches in person. KET will also broadcast the live speeches.
