Girls’ Soccer
The Old Saybrook girls’ soccer squad finished its regular season by earning a win and a tie in its final two games, after which the Rams lost to Old Lyme in the first round of the Shoreline Conference Tournament last week. Old Saybrook has an overall record of 6-5-6 as it gets ready to play in states.
Old Saybrook began last week by claiming a 2-1 victory against Wheeler in a home game on Oct. 25. Two days later, the Rams hosted Portland and battled the Highlanders to a 2-2 draw at Old Saybrook High School.
Then on Oct. 30, No. 6 seed Old Saybrook played a quarterfinal game at No. 3 Old Lyme in its Shoreline Conference Tournament opener. Old Saybrook took a 2-0 loss to the Wildcats in the contest.
Old Saybrook is participating in the Class S State Tournament that gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 6 and runs through the title game at Dillon Stadium in Hartford on either Saturday, Nov. 20 or Sunday, Nov. 21.
Boys’ Soccer
After going undefeated in the regular season, the Old Saybrook boys’ soccer team had a bye through the first round of the Shoreline Conference Tournament last week. The Rams, who went 14-0-2 in the regular season, are the No. 1 seed in the Shoreline bracket.
Following first-round action, Old Saybrook hosted No. 4 Portland in the Shoreline Tournament semifinals on Nov. 2 (after press time). With a win, the Rams would take on the winner of No. 2 Valley Regional and No. 3 Morgan in the conference final on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
After participating in Shorelines, Old Saybrook will compete in the Class S State Tournament. The tournament gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 6 and will finish with the title game on either Saturday, Nov. 20 or Sunday, Nov. 21 at Dillon Stadium in Hartford.
Field Hockey
The Old Saybrook field hockey team played a road game versus Granby in its last contest of the 2021 regular season. The Rams took a 2-0 defeat in the matchup to finish the regular season with an overall record of 11-4-1.
Old Saybrook is the No. 3 seed in the Shoreline Conference Tournament and opened the draw by playing a first-round game at No. 2 seed North Branford on Nov. 1 (after press time). If the Rams won that game, they will play the winner of No. 1 seed Valley Regional and No. 4 Westbrook-Old Lyme in the Shoreline final at the Indian River Complex in Clinton on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
Following Shorelines, Old Saybrook will take part in the Class S State Tournament that starts on Monday, Nov. 8 and finishes with the championship game at Wethersfield High School on Saturday, Nov. 20.
