99 percent of COVID-19 cases in Virginia have occurred in people who were not full vaccinated. That’s according to a release from the Virginia Department of Health. According to VDH, Vaccination is the most important strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19. Every time an immune person is exposed, the chain of transmission is broken, slowing the spread from person to person. To bring awareness to this fact, the department is announcing a new dashboard to show COVID-19 cases by vaccination status and to assist in tracking COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases. A Vaccine Breakthrough means someone who is fully vaccinated develops COVID-19. The report also stated, getting vaccinated is a much safer way to develop immunity than getting sick from COVID-19.
