LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Over the last half-decade, NM State has done something on a more consistent basis than almost all other NCAA Division I teams in the nation.
It has won.
In a study compiled by James Madison University, NM State's five-year winning percentage of .611 among all sports from 2015-20 ranks 37th among all 353 NCAA Division I institutions from around the nation. The Aggies' cumulative winning percentage through the previous half-decade put them ahead of programs such as Virginia (.609), Wisconsin (.609), Auburn (.609), Arizona (.600) and Texas Tech (.600).
NM State has accumulated a number of memorable accomplishments over the course of the last five years. Football made its return to a bowl game for the first time in 57 years during the 2017 season when it won the NOVA Home Loans New Mexico Bowl. Men's basketball has advanced to three NCAA Tournaments, won three WAC regular season titles, captured three WAC Tournament crowns and averaged 26.8 wins per season while the Aggies' women's hoops squad has also brought home a trio of WAC regular season titles while advancing to three NCAA Tournaments. The Aggies' volleyball team has been exceptionally strong during that span, too, amassing four WAC regular season titles and advancing to three NCAA Tournaments.
All told, NM State has claimed 27 WAC regular season titles over the previous five years with softball (four), volleyball (four) and women's golf (four) generating the most. In addition to the six combined WAC regular season titles from the Aggies' basketball teams, NM State's baseball (one), men's golf (one), men's tennis (three), women's tennis (two), women's cross country (one) and women's indoor track & field (one) teams have captured at least one WAC regular season title trophy.
