Neiman Marcus has decided which Last Call stores will remain open - The Dallas Morning News

Neiman Marcus is preparing to ask the bankruptcy court to close 17 of its Last Call stores.

The Dallas-based retailer plans to keep five of the off-price branded stores open for clearance purposes: two in Texas, two in California and one in Florida.

Simon Property Group, which owns both the Mills and Premium branded outlet malls, is the landlord to the five stores that will remain open, including Grapevine Mills and San Marcos Premium Outlets in Texas.

Neiman Marcus said in March, before it filed for bankruptcy protection, that it would shut down its Last Call division sometime this fall to focus on full-price selling. The decision will result in about 750 job losses after stores are closed later this fall.

None of the Last Call stores have started liquidation sales yet. The retailer has to formally receive approval from the bankruptcy judge to reject the leases on the stores. Neiman Marcus could end up closing some of its full-line stores, but the company hasn’t said yet. There’s been some speculation about its newest store, which opened in Manhattan in March 2019.

The lease has already expired for its Rosemont, Ill. location in the Fashion Outlets of Chicago. That store will start liquidating in a couple of weeks, the company said.

“This decision will help ensure the continued long-term success of our business and underscores our unrelenting focus on providing unparalleled luxury experiences and engagement,” said Amber Seikaly, the retailer’s vice president of corporate communications.

As far as Last Call online, the company is “still exploring options,” she said.

The stores that the company plans to keep open are:

• Grapevine Mills in Grapevine

• San Marcos Premium Outlets in San Marcos

• The Block in Orange, Calif.

• Desert Hills in Cabazon, Calif.

• Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Fla.

The stores it is planning to close are:

• Austin in Austin

• Inwood in Dallas

• Post Oak in Houston

• Katy Mills in Katy

• Preston Shepard in Plano

• Camarillo Premium Outlets in Camarillo, Calif.

• Milpitas in Milpitas, Calif.

• Miromar in Estero, Fla.

• Dolphin in Miami

• Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville, Ga.

• Rosemont in Rosemont, Ill.

• Congressional in Rockville, Md.

• Vegas North in Las Vegas.

• Bergen in Paramus, N.J.

• Outlet Collection Riverwalk in New Orleans

• Brooklyn in Brooklyn

• Deer Park in Deer Park, N.Y.
