The win put the Chaps (18-9, 15-7) in fifth place in the Lone Star Conference, meaning they will host a first round game in the Rip Griffin Center. LCU will take on the No. 12 seed Midwestern State a 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Tickets for the LSC playoff game will be available at the door, and students can get in free with their ID. The winner will advance to the final site at the Comerica Center in Frisco to take on the No. 4 seed Angelo State.
Lubbock Christian scored on their first offensive possession thanks to a Cameron Copley three-pointer, and had a six point lead after back-to-back jumpers from Lloyd Daniels at the 15:27 mark. Western New Mexico quickly closed the gap back and took a lead on a CJ Vanbeekum three-pointer.
With just over ten minutes left in the opening half, WNMU started a 13-1 run that put them up by 11 at the 7:35 mark. Parker Hicks stopped the run with a one of his four made three-pointers in the game, but the Mustangs kept hitting on offense, all the way to a 15-point lead before the Chaps started to cut back into the deficit. A quick 7-0 run from LCU brought them back within three, and when the buzzer sounded for halftime, LCU was down by just seven points.
Western New Mexico got the lead back out to double-digits in the second half and kept it there for about six minutes before LCU really went to work on their comeback. The Chaps pulled within two points after another three from Hicks and a layup from Daniels, but soon found themselves back down by nine.
The Chaps pulled within one point of tying the game with just over eight minutes left to play and finally retook the lead two minutes later as Ty Caswell got to the free throw line and hit a pair of shots. They would never trail again, and were only tied with the Mustangs one more time the rest of the way.
Aamer Muhammad hit a three-pointer with 3:49 left to go, and from there on out Lubbock Christian allowed just three points while scoring 15 of their own to close down the win.
Hicks was LCU's leading scorer for the fourth straight game, and he finished with 20-plus for the third time in the last four contests at 22. He also matched his career-high with 12 rebounds, giving him his third double-double of the year. Daniels and Caswell followed close behind with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Muhammad scored 14 off the bench, while Copley added in 10 points and led the team with seven assists.
TURNING POINT
Lubbock Christian shot the ball well and played lock down defense in the game's final nine minutes, going on a 26-9 run to retake the lead and close out a nine-point win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The double figure scoring effort was the 21st of the season for Hicks, who has led the Chaps in scoring eight times this season. It was his fifth 20-plus performance of the year as well as his 11th time to lead the team in rebounding.

It's now time for postseason play, as the Chaps turn their attention to the Lone Star Conference Championship, where they will need to play well ensure themselves a spot in the NCAA South Central Regional the following weekend.
