CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - During last weekend’s Wyoming Coaches Foundation North-South All-Star Games, Encampment’s Dalton Peterson’s impact was seen all over the floor. Peterson dropped 31 points and routinely found open teammates for buckets.
Encampment plays at the 1A level, and last weekend’s All-Star game featured players primarily from the higher levels of Wyoming high school basketball.
Peterson said playing against the higher competition didn’t intimidate him at all. “I played AAU with a ton of guys on the North and a ton of guys on the South, so we’re pretty good friends,” said Peterson after the game. “They definitely push me to be better in the summer workouts just in my head knowing they’re working, so I gotta be working, too, so I can compete with them.”
Next season Peterson will play basketball at Casper College, where the All-Star games were held, and he said that served as a little motivation to put on a show.
“I had in my mind I knew some of the players were gonna come, so I had to try to play well to make sure they knew what they had coming next year,” said Peterson.
Peterson’s South team won in dramatic fashion on a last-second basket from Central’s Brady Storebo in overtime. It was an exciting win that Peterson also said only made him more excited to win more games inside T-Bird Erickson Gym.
