Season four of Amazon's 'The Expanse' and a new ESPN '30 for 30' film also debut the week of Dec. 13.

A new adaptation of one of Stephen King's most loved novels arrives on Dec. 17 when CBS All Access debuts The Stand. The week of Dec. 13-19 also brings premieres of The Expanse on Amazon and Chadwick Boseman's final movie performance, as well as several broadcast finales.

Holiday programming also continues to deck many, many halls. (For a rundown of the holiday movies and specials airing in the coming week, check out The Hollywood Reporter's holiday TV guide.)

Here is The Hollywood Reporter's rundown of some of the coming week's highlights. It would be next to impossible to watch everything, but let THR point the way to worthy options each week. All times are ET/PT unless noted.

The Big Show

The Stand, Stephen King's epic story about good and evil set after a devastating plague, was previously adapted as an ABC miniseries in the 1990s. The book gets a more expansive treatment in a 10-episode CBS All Access series that premieres Thursday, with subsequent episodes debuting weekly. The series, greenlit in early 2019, also has an eerie timeliness now as it's premiering when the country is in the midst of a pandemic.

Whoopi Goldberg plays Mother Abigail, the 108-year-old leader of a band of survivors who align themselves against the embodiment of evil: Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgard). James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga and Brad William Henke also star.

Also on streaming …

The final film Chadwick Boseman made before his death in August is Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, based on a play by August Wilson. Boseman is likely to get serious awards consideration for his role in the film, which also stars Viola Davis and Colman Domingo. It premieres Friday on Netflix.

Also coming this week are YA ballet drama Tiny Pretty Things (Monday, Netflix); the fourth season of The Expanse (Wednesday, Amazon); HBO Max's special Homeschool Musical: Class of 2020 (Thursday); and another show about ballet, docuseries On Pointe (Friday, Disney+).

Finale: The fourth season of The Masked Singer concludes with the final three competitors — Crocodile, Mushroom and Sun — coming back for one last round of songs and the final unmasking. The finale airs at 9 p.m. Wednesday on Fox, preceded by recap show at 8 p.m.

More finales: Winners will also be crowned on The Voice (9 p.m. Tuesday, NBC) and The Amazing Race (8 p.m. Wednesday, CBS). ABC's Thursday dramas — Station 19, Grey's Anatomy and A Million Little Things — air their final episodes of 2020 before going on hiatus until March.

Specials: Who's a good dog? All the pooches featured in Dogs of the Year (8 p.m. Thursday, The CW). NBC airs the Global Citizen Prize ceremony at 8 p.m. Saturday.

On cable …

Special: Animal Planet heads to Botswana for a three-hour special called Walking With Elephants (8 p.m. Wednesday). Explorer and conservationist Levison Wood follows some of the thousands of elephants who make their way to the Okavango Delta every year to feed on its lush vegetation, traveling hundreds of difficult miles.

New: Tiffani Thiessen hosts Deliciousness (7 p.m. Monday, MTV), a spinoff of Ridiculousness that focuses on the wealth of internet food content. ESPN's latest 30 for 30 film, The Infinite Race, profiles members of Mexico's Tarahumara, an Indigenous community renowned for its endurance running.

Returning: The second season premiere of Celebrity IOU (9 p.m. Monday, HGTV) features Zooey Deschanel renovating a lifelong friend's home with the help of Property Brothers Jonathan (Deschanel's boyfriend) and Drew Scott.

In case you missed it …

British drama Adult Material centers on a mother of three (Hayley Squires) who supports her family by working in the adult film industry. The well-reviewed series, which aired in the U.K. earlier this year, follows Squires' character as she comes to a crossroads in her career. It's streaming on HBO Max.
