Neymar has revealed that he expects next year’s World Cup in Qatar to be his last.
Speaking to DAZN, the 29-year-old explained that he thinks it will be his final opportunity with Brazil because of the mental strain football has inflicted upon him.
“I think it’s my last World Cup,” the Paris Saint-Germain forward admitted.
“I see it as my last because I don’t know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football any more.
“So I’ll do everything to turn up well, do everything to win with my country, to realise my greatest dream since I was little. And I hope I can do it.”
The Brazilian striker led his country’s frontline in their attempt to lift the trophy in 2014 and 2018.
They came unstuck, however, in the 2014 semi-final, suffering a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany and were narrowly beaten by Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-final stages of the 2018 edition.
Neymar has started all but one of PSG’s six Ligue 1 games, clocking up 412 minutes and netting one goal in their 2-1 win over Lyon in mid-September.
