Look, up in the sky! Thursday, May 14, at about 3 p.m., a flyover of two C-130Js, flown by the 115th Airlift Squadron, will streak over Ojai Valley Community Hospital.
The flyover is part of "Operation America Strong," honoring California's front-line COVID-19 first responders and everyone on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.
A formation of two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft will start the flyover at about 2 p.m., flying out of the Palmdale Regional Medical Facility, with its last flyover stop Ojai Valley Community Hospital at about 3 p.m.
"We are so grateful to all of our healthcare workers serving in our communities," stated U.S. Air Force Col. Keith Chkasawa, 146th Airlift Wing commander. "Please join us as we show our appreciation to local healthcare workers with a flyover salute, honoring their commitment in providing care to our communities. From all our airmen serving at the 146th Airlift Wing, you have our most sincere thanks and gratitude. Thank you for your service."
Residents in the areas of the flyover are asked to watch the flyover from their homes and maintain all social-distancing guidelines during the event.
They are also asked by organizers to refrain from traveling to landmarks and hospitals, or gathering in large groups to view the flyover. They can also expect to hear aircraft noise as the planes fly over.
People are encouraged to tag the 146th Airlift Wing on social media in photos and videos of the formation with the hashtags #146AW, #AmericaStrong, and #CalGuard.
