PEORIA — Organizers announced Friday morning that the annual Red White and Boom fireworks display won’t be held July 4 on the river between Peoria and East Peoria this year.
However, that doesn’t mean the display is canceled; it may still be held later in the year.
Mike Wild, VP and general manager at Midwest 360, stated in an email that the postponement “is driven by the governor’s strong suggestion to not hold big events throughout the state this summer and out of concern for the health and safety of the community.
He also said that even if the event is not able to be held later in 2020, they do plan to hold the 2021 fireworks.
The event is annually billed as the largest fireworks display in the state.
