Senators are making a last-ditch effort to get a deal on a mammoth coronavirus stimulus package after talks unraveled earlier Sunday.

“Our staff, Democratic and Republicans, are now working to change ... the problematic provisions and others in the bill,” Schumer said.

The Senate has been expected to hold an initial procedural vote related to the coronavirus stimulus package at 3 p.m., but McConnell instead pushed it back until 6 p.m.

"The talks are continuing and Sen. Schumer asked for a couple of hours and I thought it was a reasonable request," he said.
Schumer confirmed that he told McConnell that Democrats could not support the bill and asked him to delay it.
